“Art is how I share a piece of my heart with the world. Thank you for being here, supporting my journey, and seeing the beauty in what I create. Every piece is made with you in mind. ❤️🎨”
My proud Story.
Kayhan Kabuli was born in Chindawol, Kabul, Afghanistan, and comes from a rich and deeply layered cultural heritage. His family history carries Qizilbash Turkish ancestry, with Afghan roots through his grandfather. His life journey has taken him through Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Canada, giving him a perspective shaped by many cultures, landscapes, and experiences.
Kayhan is a dental surgeon, painter, poet, hiker, and lover of art, music, and sports. Dentistry is his profession, but art and poetry are his means of expressing the deeper parts of himself. His paintings and poems reflect memory, emotion, identity, nature, displacement, love, solitude, and the human struggle to find light in difficult times.
Growing up during decades of turmoil in Afghanistan, Kayhan witnessed and experienced the profound effects of a country going through enormous change. His life journey was not always pleasant, and the experiences of his homeland and his own journey became deeply embedded in who he is. He describes those experiences as being “DNAed in my blood”—a part of him that cannot simply be separated from his identity.
Yet hardship did not silence his creativity. Instead, it became one of the sources from which his art and poetry emerged.
Kayhan’s spiritual and literary inspiration is deeply connected to Rumi, whom he calls his king. Rumi’s vision of love, suffering, transformation, and the endless journey of the human soul speaks to Kayhan’s own understanding of life.
One of his poems captures the feeling of a weary traveler carrying the weight of loneliness, separation, and an uncertain tomorrow:
The poem speaks in the voice of a traveler who has carried his memories and pain through a long journey. Like his paintings, it transforms personal experience into something that others can feel and recognize.
Kayhan is also an avid hiker and explorer. Mountains and open landscapes give him a sense of freedom and perspective. He dreams not merely of reaching the highest mountain, but of going farther—to “reach the deepest corner of the sky.” For him, the journey is as important as the destination.
His paintings are another chapter of this continuing journey. Through color, form, and imagination, Kayhan tells stories that words sometimes cannot express. His artwork is available to collectors and art lovers through his website, www.Kabulii.com
From the streets of Chindawol in Kabul to the countries and cultures he has encountered along the way, Kayhan Kabuli’s story is one of heritage, hardship, creativity, resilience, and continual exploration.
He is still walking.
Still painting.
Still writing.
Still searching.
And somewhere beyond the next mountain, he continues to look for that place he calls the deepest corner of the sky.
